ABOUT ME
Mgr. Mária Hlohovská
Psychologist in Brno and online
I am a psychologist and currently undertaking psychotherapy training in analytical psychology. In my private practice, I work with a depth-oriented psychodynamic approach.
In therapy, I am interested not only in what a person is experiencing right now, but also in the connections, relationships and experiences that may be influencing how they feel in the present. What matters to me is an understanding that does not come from quick advice, but develops gradually through our work together.
I regularly discuss my therapeutic work in supervision.
HOW I THINK ABOUT THERAPY
You do not always need to know where to start
You do not need to come to therapy with a clearly defined problem or a clear idea of what needs to change. Sometimes it begins simply with a sense that something keeps repeating, that things feel overwhelming, or that the way you have been coping no longer feels sufficient.
Together, we can explore what is happening, how you understand it, and what connections gradually emerge. The pace and direction of the work develop through dialogue and may change over the course of therapy.
I see therapy as a space not only for what feels difficult, but also for questions of identity, relationships, needs, meaning and how you want to experience your life.
IN THERAPEUTIC WORK
What matters to me
Curiosity instead of quick conclusions
I try to understand how you experience what is happening, without pressure to find an immediate solution or a simple explanation.
Relationships and recurring patterns
We also pay attention to what tends to repeat in your life or relationships and what these patterns may mean in a broader context.
Space for gradual change
Change does not have to mean simply removing a difficulty. It can bring greater self-understanding, more freedom in making choices, and new ways of responding.
APPROACH
Why a depth-oriented psychodynamic approach
This way of working resonates with me because it does not view a person separately from their life story. How we feel and experience things in the present may be connected to earlier experiences, important relationships, emotions and inner beliefs that we may not always be aware of.
Analytical psychology also creates space for questions of identity, meaning and inner direction. Not every issue needs a quick answer; sometimes it is more important to understand what lies beneath it.
